Integer Multiplication in "Multiplication Environment"
This shows how a student can model the multiplication of integers using Virtual Tiles. To model 12 * -9 = -108, click and drag the "1" tile onto the horizontal (top) bar 12 times and onto the vertical (left) bar 9 times. Then double-click on one of the tiles in the vertical bar to make the integer negative.

The "Stay Equal" option makes the number of individual tiles shown in the product box equal the actual product of the numbers of tiles dragged onto the vertical and horizontal bars.

When "Show Algebra" is clicked, the mathematical equation being modeled is shown (bottom left of screen).
